All your building is vain unless God is the builder,
All your watching is vain unless
God is the watchman!

Chorus:
Those who weep as they sow,
Will rejoice at the harvest.
Give your thanks to the Lord
Who brings joy out of sorrow.
He turns sorrow into joy!

You may rise before dawn,
seek your bed after nightfall,
And yet labour in vain, for the Lord
gives the increase.

In his love God makes rich by
his present of children,
Who, like arrows in flight,
will be swift to protect you.

What a blessing God gives
in this quiver of arrows!
When the enemy stands
in the gate of the city.
